York Pass Review | Why you need one & how much it saved us in a weekend (Hint – We Made A Profit!)

Welcome to my York Pass Review, a great way to save money whilst visiting the many cultural and historical attractions around York.

In this post I will cover how much a York Pass costs, where to get one, what’s included and how much we saved.

Enjoy!

How much does a York Pass cost?

Passes for up to 3 days are available, prices below:

1 day pass

  • £40 for adults
  • £26 for children

2 day pass

  • £55 for adults
  • £30 for children

3 day pass

  • £65 for adults
  • £35 for children

TOP TIP: There often seem to be discount vouchers available on the site which can be used straight away. Scroll around the homepage and you will see the latest offer. These normally take the format of the month/year (IE We used Jan2018, as I’m writing this there is a live code for March2018). I assume it depends on the time of the year and demand for tickets, but we managed to save 15% when we booked in January.

*Prices correct as of March 2018

What Is Included with the York Pass?

How Much Will I Save?

Well, clearly this all depends on how much you use it!

But I thought I’d give you an idea how much we saved from our trip.

We booked 2 x 3 day adult passes. We arrived in York on a Friday lunchtime and left on Sunday afternoon.

You’ll find York is quite a compact city, so you can get to alot of the attractions quite easily. It’s not unrealistic to see alot of them over a weekend if you plan it well.

Initial Cost:

  • 2 x tickets at £65 each = £130.
  • There was a live discount code for 15% so we ended up at a cost of £110.50

Attractions Visited (Price for 1 ticket):

  • YorkMinster £10
  • York’s Chocolate Story £12.50
  • Open Top Bus Tour £13
  • York Castle Museum £10
  • Clifford Tower £5.50
  • Roman Bath Museum £3.50
  • Merchants Adventurer’s Hall £5.50
  • Jorvik Viking Centre £11
  • Richard of York Museum £5.50
  • Yorkshire Museum £6

So we would have spent spent £82.50 per person on tickets to attractions, a grand total of £165.

Over 3 days this means the York Pass saved us £54.50!
